String Tools is a suite of functions that are a must for any regular Surpac user. They provide solutions for common problems encounted when graphically editing string data in the software.
Presently the String Tools suite includes three useful functions,
Break Segment The break segment function differs from the Surpac segment break function because you can determine the direction of the break by the points you select. It also cleans up single points that are created as a result of a break segment. If you break a closed segment it will rejoin the resulting components to ensure that the outcome is still a single segment.
Join Segments The join segment function differs from the Surpac join segment in that it will always join the segments independent of segment direction. If you choose the end of one segment then select the end of another segment, it always joins those points, regardless of segment direction.
Insert Points The insert points function evenly distributes points between the existing points of a segment. It never creates duplicate points, and you can remove points that are within a certain tolerance distance. This provides a function that 'normalises' problem segments. |
